The Balloon's Fugue! (by Lorena)

Round and soft,
Floating by, there it goes
Like a road of rough white string
Tied it is
To the kid

Can’t escape unless
The cord is released
In this case feels like a loss
Of your life
The object which kept you alive,
Entertained

It’s gone
Freely floating by itself
Not worried about anything
Just the direction it’s going to take
The carefulness and aware for spikes and leaves,
For birds and too much wind
For cables and trees

Whilst you are contemplating it
With such a regret
For letting it go
To see what happened

She always told you don’t untie it
If you want to keep it
As your friend for long periods
Have fun moving with it
Pulling it
Up in the air

Now I know what happens
I first didn’t believe her
All those scolding make her seem
Like a liar

Now I know what happens
I just wanted to see by myself

Thank you mum for trying to prevent me
Now I feel so fool

Ofrenda to George Orwell

Last thursday we made an ofrenda about the author of Animal Farm, George Orwell. We participated in a competition along with other ofrendas from many forms and grades but unfortunately didn't win. We really wanted to win because we put a lot of effort in it as well as our tutor, Ian, and we had a good and original idea. We placed a big paper painted with a dark sky, and with a big tower in the middle, where a big advertising with a face saying "Big brother is watching you" was, that represented one of his books called 1984. We also put an helicopter climbing from the top. In front of the paper, we put a table with many flowers typical in Mexico in October and November, fruits, bread, sugar skulls and a cup with water; there were 4 chairs. In two of the chairs there were 2 guys with pig masks playing cards with a man sitting in a third chair who was the man in the advertising of Big Brother. The fourth chair was supposed to be for George Orwell, but never arrived since he's dead. The pigs represented his book Animal Farm. All the floor was covered with flowers and there were candles. In front of the whole ofrenda there were 4 guards that represented his book 1984 who were looking after Big Brother.
Even though we made a big effort and didn't win, all the other ofrendas were amazing, creative and really beautiful. We congratulate the winner forms!

El Canto del Loco (by Lorena)

I found a very cool video on youtube about the song "Ya nada volverá a ser como antes" from "El Canto del Loco" (group from Spain). Its obviously in spanish but I like it very much, not only because the song is fabulous, but also because in the video, the spanish football player that is now playing for Liverpool, Fernando Torres, appears ( I think he's really handsome and plays great.)
I really like this band so if you watch the video and like it I really recommend you to watch others and hear more songs since their amazing too!
Check it out:

Hope you like it as much as I do (though I think the ending is really sad!)

Ironic - Alanis Morissette (Dafnee Orezza)

Alanis Morissete is an artist who writes her songs and creates her music, she also has more good songs but I chose this one because it`s different and creative. This song is one of my favourites because I like very much the way she writes. She gives a message that life is really unknow, you cannot know what will happen to you. I also like the video, were she appears driving a car and then she sees through the mirror and realizes that a woman was behind herself, then another woman appears on the other side. If you know Alanis Morissette you can realize that all woman that suddendly appear are always her. My interpretation about this is that maybe she has a lot of personalities. 13 Going on 30(2004) (Lorena)

Starring: Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer, Andy Serkis
Director: Gary Winick
Running Time: 97 mins.
Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
*****
The job of Gary Winick was to create once more a great movie of romance and comedy, which are his specialties. Being this his 7th movie as a director, he was able to direct a fabulous movie that will make anyone laugh, not only teenagers but also people from every age and have a good time. It’s also a story that will make older people remember their childhood.

Jennifer Garner plays Jenna Rink, the 13-year-old girl who wished her life was different; years pass and she meets again with his childhood’s best friend, Matt Flamhaff (Mark Ruffalo) and then realizes of something she should have done, years ago.

The typical 13-year-old girl, who reads beauty magazines, who wishes to be cool, to date the most handsome guy at school, to be the queen at the spring prom and wants to be older, as a birthday present receives a wishing dust which is the responsible for making her life change. One day she wakes up being a 30-year-old woman with a quite respectable job and a famous & cute boyfriend, after some time, realizes her adolescence wasn’t as bad as she thought.

Having wonderful settings at New York City and New Jersey, incredible costumes, a lovely story theme and fantastic lyrics such as “Love is a battlefield” and “Thriller” between a huge variety, this movie is one of my favorites; in fact, it’s a movie that can be seen again and again and you don’t get tired of it. Of course not everybody will agree but people who like to laugh of little silly things, who love fashion and get inspired by love stories, will.

Movie from Dafnee

Love Actually (2003)

Cast: Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Heike Makatsch and Keira Knightley.
Director: Richard Curtis
Category: Comedy
Running Time: 135 min.
*****
On DVD

Love Actually is a film about love. There are many little stories with different problems related with life. Every story has its own plot and controversy. The beginnings and the ends of these stories are joined together in an airport. Every person found the love in an unexpected place and made one whole story. This film isn't for children, however it is an interesting idea from the director: Richard Curtis, to try to give the message that Love is everywhere, it doesn't matter where the love is: from parents to children's, between sisters, boyfriends or girlfriends, etc. The love is all around the world. Plus the variety of actors is very interesting, everyone has a different way to transmit the feeling, they are famous and act very good.

I surely recommend this film. Is a very good experience.

What I like (Lorena)...

Hmm..., well its kind of difficult for me to tell something in specific that I like because I love and enjoy a lot of things! After thinking for a while, I had the idea of talking about the fantastic sequence of books that J.K. Rowling has written, the Harry Potter ones. I have already read numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and I'm in the middle of 5. I know I'm quite behind, but I am trying to finish it as quick as possible as well as the number 6 before the movie comes out! I have heard, the 7th one is really good, so I want to read it as soon as I can. The reason for my interest in the Harry Potter books is because I really like to read things about fantastic creatures & magical stuff; I also like how J.K. Rowling writes, she doesn't use too much description (that some other authors use and after a while makes you get bored easily)and the one she uses is amusing; she also gives you fun information that is easy to understand and finally, she writes in a way that grabs your attention a lot and makes you want to read more and more and more. I have enjoyed all the 4 books very much and what I have read from number 5. I hope to finish the sequence soon so, that way I can have a bigger opinion and even decide which was the one I enjoyed the most!

What Dafnee Likes

What I like the most is being with my friends. It doesn´t matter if we are in the theatre, at the cinema, at parties, in houses or in any place at all because we always know how to spend a good time. We always care for each other; we are like a family because we accept us and at the same time we try to do our best to help the others, and in a ware sense we always do help each other. We are very united.
