Journey's End is a play that was written by R. C. Sherriff in 1928, based in the problems and situations that people lived during World War I.
The setting is located in the trenches (excavations in the earth, where people used to hide from their enemies and sometimes build a room (dugout) where they slept underground)of St. Quentin, France (in 1918.)
The author somehow wrote this book to express his own experiences in this important war. He lets the reader know how difficult it was to live in those conditions, without even knowing if the following day you'd be alive.
Throughout the play, you can notice that not everything you expect is exactly how you wanted or thought it was; for example in Journey's End it talks about heroes and role models to people that when they get to know them better, get a totally different impression.
