The job of Gary Winick was to create once more a great movie of romance and comedy, which are his specialties. Being this his 7th movie as a director, he was able to direct a fabulous movie that will make anyone laugh, not only teenagers but also people from every age and have a good time. It’s also a story that will make older people remember their childhood.
Jennifer Garner plays Jenna Rink, the 13-year-old girl who wished her life was different; years pass and she meets again with his childhood’s best friend, Matt Flamhaff (Mark Ruffalo) and then realizes of something she should have done, years ago.
The typical 13-year-old girl, who reads beauty magazines, who wishes to be cool, to date the most handsome guy at school, to be the queen at the spring prom and wants to be older, as a birthday present receives a wishing dust which is the responsible for making her life change. One day she wakes up being a 30-year-old woman with a quite respectable job and a famous & cute boyfriend, after some time, realizes her adolescence wasn’t as bad as she thought.
Having wonderful settings at New York City and New Jersey, incredible costumes, a lovely story theme and fantastic lyrics such as “Love is a battlefield” and “Thriller” between a huge variety, this movie is one of my favorites; in fact, it’s a movie that can be seen again and again and you don’t get tired of it. Of course not everybody will agree but people who like to laugh of little silly things, who love fashion and get inspired by love stories, will.
